In the name of God Most Gracious, Most Compassionate.
Literal Translation of verse 1.
All praises is to God, who has revealed to His servant The Book, and has not allowed in it any deviousness.
Tafsir or Commentary by Jalalaian:-
Praises signifies righteousness, that has the attribute that God is the Most High. This praises is meant to be a declaration of faith or to praise only HIM alone, or is meant for both.
There are several supposition in grasping this matter, but the most beneficial is the third opinion, that is, to have faithand at the same time to praise HIM alone.
The word "His servant" is referred to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and
"The Book" is The Quran.
God did not make in the Quran any contradiction.
Tafsir Muhammad Asad:-
The word deviousness was translated from the Arabic word "iwaja", which signifies "crookedness" or "deviation" from a path, as well as, "distortion" or "deviousness" in the abstract sense of these words.
Verse 1 is meant to establish the direct, unambiguous character of the Quran and to stress its freedom from all obscurities and internal contradictions. God declared in Chapter 4 Surah An-Nisa (Women) Verse 82;
"Will they not then try to understand this Quran? Had it been issued from other than God,
they would surely have found in it many inner contradiction."
