That's because he lived at Khalsa Cresecent which was just opposite of the Royal Malaysian Navy Barracks. He always went into the barracks and even watch them parade in the Parade Ground every week. He mixed quite closely with the navy guys. One of his peer friend did join the Malaysian Navy.
Despite that dream he did not study well in West Hill Primary School but manage to stumble into Naval Base Secondary School just next door. He had many astounding friends there. There was once NBSS produced a national top student in Singapore.
