003-1c The Cave 18:6 Grief can destroy

Translation, Commentary & Explanation of Chapter 18 Al-Kahfi.

Translation of Verse 6.
So perhaps you may want to destroy yourself with grief over their unwillingness to believe in this saying/word.

Tafsir Jalalain.
So perhaps you will destroy and kill yourself, in grief, after they turn away from you and do not believe in the explanation of the Quran, because you are sad, as you really wanted them to believe.

Tafsir Muhammad Asad
But would you perhaps torment yourself to death with grief over them if they are not willing to believe in this message?
This question was addressed to the Prophet, who was distressed by the hostility which his message aroused among the pagan Meccans, and suffered agonies of apprehension regarding their spiritual fate.
Beyond that, however, it applies to everyone who, havingbecome convinced of the truth, is dismayed at the indifference with which his social environment reacts to it.


Moral : Do not grief over anything, but, be sad because GOD did not shower HIS
blessing to other people.

002-1 The Cave 18 : 4 - 5 The Greatest Sin

Translation, Commentary & Explanation of Chapter 18 Al-Kahfi.

Literal Translation of Verse 4.
And to remind those who said, "God has taken a child".

Tafsir Jalaian.
And to remind to all the unbelievers and to those who said,"Allah has taken a son".

Tafsir Muhammad Asad.
Furthermore, this divine writ is meant to warn all those who assert, "God has taken unto Himself a son".

Literal Translation of Verse 5.
They do not have knowledge of that, and not even their ancestors. Terrible is this saying that comes out of their mouth. Verily they have spoken nothing but falsehood.

Commentary by Jalalain
They do not have real knowledge of what they are saying. And not even their ancestors had the real knowledge when they were saying the similar thing. It is a very great sinful words that comes out of their mouth. The word"kalimatan" gramatically referred to their claim in verse 4.
They have said nothing but falsehood.

Commentary by Muhammad Asad
They who said such falsehood do not really have the knowledge of God, and neither had their fore-fathers, since they attribute to the Supreme Being something that is only fit for the creations. According to Asad, this interpretation is supported by Imam Tabari and Baydawi.
Dreadful is this saying that comes out of their mouths, and nothing but falsehood do they utter.

Literal Translation of Verse 2.

As a straight path, to remind of severe punishments from HIM, and to give good news to those who believe, who do good deeds, that they will be handsomely rewarded.

Tafsir Jalalain.

As a straight path and guidance, to remind and to warn the unbelievers with the Quran, of severe punishments from HIM (ALLAH), and to give good news to those who believe, who do good deeds that they will be handsomely rewarded.
The word "qayyiman" meaning "straight path" is grammatically an explanation to the word "Al-Kitab" in verse 1 meaning "The Book".

Tafsir Muhammad Asad

This divine writ, which is unerringly straight is meant to warn the godless of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers who do good works, that they will get good rewards.

They will be permanently in it forever.

Tafsir Jalaian.

That is they will be in Paradise forever and ever.

Tafsir Muhammad Asad.

They will dwell in a state of bliss beyond the count of time.
